PARRAMATTA great Peter Sterling says he will support the Eels until the day he dies, but is not interested in a job on the club's coaching staff. Sterling was reacting to speculation that he would be offered a role and was keen to get involved. "If I can help the club in any way, I will, but I'm not looking to get involved on the coaching staff or in any other official capacity," Sterling told The Big Wrap. "I live on the Central Coast and my priorities are my family and doing what I do with Channel Nine. To be honest, I don't come to Sydney any more than I have to these days. I've always backed the club and I'll continue to back the club, and I like the idea of the Eels getting former players involved more, if that's what they want to do. I'm happy to support the club socially, which is no different to what I do now, but I'm not seeking to get involved in the coaching side of things. If Daniel [Anderson, the Eels coach] rang me for an opinion on [Eels five-eighth] Daniel Mortimer, or something like that, I would be happy to talk to him, but that's as far as I would go. I'm not in the habit of trying to force my opinion on the coach. I would only give it if he asked what I thought. Daniel [Anderson] has got an important job to do and I support him totally in that.".. read full story
